Never Let ‘Em See Or Feel You Sweat In Your Network Marketing Business!
OMG!!! He’s got a shotgun in his lap! Yes, what you are about to read IS a True Story.
For those of you that know me, you know that my husband and I lived in Wyoming. We were there for about 16 years. After my husband passed away in 2006, I came back to California to be near my daughter, grand kids and the rest of my family. When I was living in Wyoming, I was in sales and I worked for a company that required a lot of travel all over the state to service existing accounts and write new business.
In Wyoming there is a whole lot of open spaces and many rural farms and ranches and my territory covered every place west of I25. I was out working one day and went to service one of our existing clients that lived about 50 miles north of a little town called Pavillion. About a 1/4 of a mile out of town, you travel on dirt and gravel roads. It was nothing to travel 20 or 30 miles between ranches and these people I went to see referred me to another rancher that was about 20 miles away from them. When you get directions out there, they are based on land marks, or sometimes they give you exactly how many miles to each turn.
Anyway, I finally came upon the gate I was looking for and opened it and drove in, of course making certain I closed it behind me. There was a Huge NO TRESPASSING sign on the gate, which I ignored. Off in the distance I could see what appeared to be a house so I followed the road heading in that direction.
After going through 4 more gates, also with Huge NO TRESPASSING signs on them, I made it to the house and pulled into the yard. On the porch of the house there was a man sitting with a shot gun in his lap giving me the onesy twosey. Then he grumbled, “Why are you trespassing up here… didn’t you see the signs?” Then he changed position and the shotgun was pointing at me!
Wondering at this point if I was going to be leaving with a “fanny full of buckshot”, I said….”Sir I am not trespassing, I just came up to visit! I was just at your neighbors and they sent me here to get your opinion cause they thought you might want what they have.” Silently encouraging self with no fear… remember, never let ‘em see you sweat!
Needless to say, he didn’t shoot and he took me into the house to meet his wife. They ended up buying what I was selling and all ended well.
The moral of the story is… when network marketing offline, contain your fear and self doubt in compromising situations because people can see it. When network marketing online, do the same because people can feel it in your chosen method of communicating with them. Never let ‘em see, or feel, you sweat!
